Mental Health Week is from the 7th to the 14th October 2023
The theme for this year’s WA Mental Health Week is Mind, Body & Environment.
WA Mental Health Week is run by the Western Australian Association for Mental Health (WAAMH) and supported by the Government of Western Australia’s Mental Health Commission.
The stats show we need to raise and maintain our awareness for mental health support.
- Over two in five Australians aged 16-85 years (43.7% or 8.6 million people) had experienced a mental disorder at some time in their life.
- One in five (21.4% or 4.2 million people) had a 12-month mental disorder.
- Anxiety was the most common group of 12-month mental disorders (16.8% or 3.3 million people).
The next report is due to be published in October 2023.
Starting early with Wellness Wednesday in Mandurah

Before WA Mental Health Week begins, we start it here in Mandurah the week before to coincide with the school holidays. This provides an opportunity for families and and all school agers to attend the event and find out about the myriad of services available for mental health related support.
This event to raise awareness for mental health and wellbeing in Mandurah will be starting early with the annual Peel Wellness Wednesday event on the 4th October 2023 from 10am to 2pm.
Other support services provided by volunteers, government and organisations in our community will be present to engage with, and to educate the community.
There will also be plenty of activities during the 4 hours of the event to keep children and adults entertained. All in all, its going to be a happy day for all who come.
